Rob: Hey everybody, Rob here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Crossbar Style Base Plate on our 2012 Fiat 500. Now, our base plate is going to be the actual attachment point on our Fiat so we can safely flat tow it behind our motor home. The whole reason why we want to take our vehicle with us is so we can have a little bit of convenience. We get it to the campgrounds or wherever we're going, and it's much easier to drive a Fiat around rather than trying to take a motor home just to go to the gas station or maybe you want to go out to dinner. Now the Roadmaster base plate is called a crossbar style because it uses this quick disconnect crossbar so that it can actually have the base plate hookup right to these pins. more

Today on our 2013 Fiat 500 we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Crossbar Style Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms.So here's what our base plate is going to look like once we have it installed in our Fiat. And this is going to serve as the attachment point that our tow bar is going to hook up to so we can safely flat tow it down the road. What I really like about our base plate is the fact that these arms are going to be removable. You just twist them and pull them out and then we'll have a really low profile look where it's not going to be changing a whole lot, 'cause we can always remove the safety cables and quick disconnects if we would like as well.To put it in and it's going be just as easy. Slide it in and rotate it, it'll lock it into position. Our base plate is going to be compatible with quick disconnect bars as well as all Roadmaster tow bars. more

Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2015 Fiat 500L- Video

Today, on our 2014 Fiat 500L, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, part number RM-522014-5. This is what your base plate is going to look like once it's installed in the vehicle. Nice, sleek, tucked away, the only thing that is going to be sticking out is going to be those chain tie-downs until you place on your arms. Place it in, let go, rotate it, and it's clicked and locked in place. They come with a bracket and the self-tapping screws to make way for that wiring harness. The first thing we're going to need to do is remove the six Phillips head screws on the bottom side of the fascia securing it to the core support. You're going to have three here: one, two, three, and three here: one, two, and three. Now, keep in mind that the six fasteners here on the passenger side are going to be the same to remove on the driver side. Now, on the inside of the fender, we're going to be moving to next, to remove the Phillips fastener here, and here, as well as the T30 Torx bit fastener located here at the seam. more
